Abstract:
The project entitled “INNOVATIVE NANOSTRUCTURED NUTRACEUTICALS WITH SYNERGISTIC BIOACTIVITIES FOR HEPATO-DIGESTIVE PROTECTION (NUTRASINPRO)” falls in the priority research domain of the present competition call, Bioeconomy, Subdomain Biotechnology. The general objective is obtaining of controlled nanostructure delivery systems based on natural raw materials mixtures as fluid fruits extracts of bitter cherry (Prunus avium var. sylvestris L.) and blue honeysuckle (Lonicera caerulea L.), grape pomace (Vitis vinifera L.) as by-product of grape winemaking encapsulated into a hybrid silica–barley germs mass (Hordeum vulgare as prebiotics) nanomatrix enriched with Lactobacillus sp. strains as probiotic. The main objectives of the project are design of new nutraceuticals formula obtained from high functional food-grade bioactive agents (anthocyanins, carotenoids, polyphenols, flavonols, flavones, vitamins, lipids, oligominerals) present in vegetal extracts encapsulated within a hybrid silica matrix-barley germs biomass nanostructure in different ratio; obtaining an innovative series of nutraceuticals delivery nanosystems exhibiting synbiotic action of prebiotics–probiotics constituents with synergistic therapeutically action; controlled delivery systems by nanoscale targeted level, with synergistic bioactivities, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and hepato-digestive protection and development of new technologies to obtain nutraceuticals nano-formulations conditioned as orodispersible tablets, controlled release tablets and lyophilized powder for oral use, protected by property rights. The envisaged end products: 1. Patenting the optimal variant nanostructured nutraceutical formulas of the new nanostructured target delivery system and issued in improving oral bioavailability for all ages group; 2. Technological process development for widely implementation of nanostructured nutraceutical formulations, used without risk on human, animal or environment health.

Abstract:
Natural products from marine species are increasingly studied as their functional properties are discovered. These properties have benefits for human health while depending on their geographical region of origin. As abundant marine resources with insufficiently exploited therapeutic potential exist, the present proposal aims to harness the Black Sea bioresources through developing innovative technologies for obtaining biorenewable pharmaceutics preparations. The membrane/bioadhesive disks preparations consist of bioactive compounds from marine extracts encapsulated into mesoporous functionalized silica matrices and have controlled release. The Black Sea bioresources valorization will be improved by using the residual biomass from technological flux as biofertilizer for vineyards. New technologies for efficient extraction and preservation of active ingredients, encapsulation in pharmaceutical and nanostructured silica matrices, obtaining modern, therapeutically/cosmetic efficient formulations tested in vitro, will be developed. The project will be completed by a multidisciplinary consortium composed of UOC, INCDM, UPB, INCDSB, having a new research center with personnel deficit (Romanian Academy-ICF) and a relaunching center- SCDVV Murtfatlar, which will develop and use the common infrastructure, existing and newly created human resources, both through the project implementation and future collaborations, while strengthening the partners’ institutional capacity through improving their services offers. The project will achieve TRL 5. The main goal of the complex project can be achieved through the complementarity of the 5 component projects, having 6 patent applications and developing new fabrication technologies for 3 pharmaceutical formulations with synergetic action as deliverables, which can be translated to economic beneficiaries.

Abstract:
The project proposal Eco-Technology to Obtain an Innovative Polycomposite Fertilizer by Processing and Recycling of Three Organic Wastes in Order to Improve the Quality of Agricultural Land and Food Production Safety - FEROW is based on the need to protect and to improve the natural resource of soil in the exploitation context of a sustainable agriculture system generating safe and profitable production. Complementary conceptual pillar is represented by the necessity for recycling and recovering some organic wastes such as sludge from waste water treatment plants, manure and marine algae biomass. The project identifies the opportunities unexplored yet in industrial and agricultural practices, proposing the use of some wastes with different provenance as raw materials for the production of organic fertilizers. It is well known the negative impact reflected in the decline of soil fertility and productivity generated by the excessive use of chemical fertilizer associated with intensive farming practices. To improve the quality of the soil is absolutely necessary the addition of organic amendments, how is the manure used in traditional agriculture. The insufficient quantity of nutrients from this waste associated with severe reduction of livestock in the last 20 years make it necessary to use other sources of organic waste as is the sludge from the waste water treatment plants. Both EU and Romanian legislation encourages the use of sewage sludge in agriculture thanks to the valuable agronomic properties and regulates their use in such a way as to prevent harmful effects on soil, vegetation, animals and human. Another source of organic matter and nutrients can be represented by marine algae biomass. The chemical analyses performed on marine algae from the Black Sea had indicated a significant content of macro elements, which could contribute to soil fertility if it were used in agriculture. The absolute novelty of the project is the overall objective itself to develop an innovative technology to producing an organic fertilizer polycomposite obtained by processing of a wastes mixture: sewage sludge, marine algae and manure in order to improve the quality of agricultural soils, especially those from Dobrogea County. Achieving this overall objective will be realized through the implementation of the specific objectives proposed in the work packages, starting from the elaboration of the conceptual model for developing the new product and the experimental test models, accelerate composting and processing of residual biomasses, ex situ and in situ testing of the different compositional formulas to determine their effects on soil quality parameters and cultivated plants. The technology transfer will be achieved on the agricultural and livestock farm AGROMIXT situated on territory of Agigea locality, Constanta County, in the vicinity of the coastal zone of the Black Sea.
It is indisputable that this innovative fertilizer designed as compost from three organic wastes: marine algae, sewage sludge and manure have never been achieved before.
The novelty of the project proposal is also given by the fact that achieving and implementation of the product could contribute to solving some serious problems, as waste disposal, damages caused by enormous quantities of algae, by tens of thousands tones magnitude order, that through pestilential odors and aspect, year by year, affects the Black Sea beaches with serious consequences for tourism and regional economy, and last but not least, the problems generated by the excessive use of chemicals on the agricultural soil.
The project responds to the need for integrating environmental objectives into agricultural policy of Romania in accordance with the objectives of the EU's agricultural policy, which is supporting the agriculture for the safe food production; biodiversity protection and improving the environment quality.
