Abstract:

The JM module "Sustainable education through European Studies for Young Researchers" (SESYR) aims to integrate the vision of the EU on research sustainability using the two dimensions of the European research strategy – 'sustainability' and 'entrepreneurship' in all doctoral strategies and programs.

The project contributes to the development of theoretical knowledge in the field of EU studies for young researchers and will focus on identifying solutions to the real problems of the EU scientific and business world.

The module is aimed at first year doctoral students (105 PhD students in three years of project). The main activities involve 2 intensive training courses for the target group with the purpose of aligning our research to the EU standards and requirements; also, it targets to train researchers for an integrated, competitive and dynamic labor market. The course materials meets the needs of the target group and will relate continuously and systematically to a learning tool. Through the newsletter provided 2 times a year we will deliver to all participants’ synthetic information on the project. The research outcomes is materialized in 2 peer-reviewed publications and 1 volume, which will be of great importance for the university and the entire academic community. The transfer of good practices and the exchange of experience will be obtained through a study visit in an EU institution. Face-to-face debates during round table, workshop, poster sessions and a conference give the opportunities to share knowledge, build a bridge between young researchers and professors and also explain our research findings to all the people interesting in the field, in terms of outputs, results and/or products.

The proposed module implements the sustainability approach by providing the support needed to understand the context of the integration into the European labor market and the experience of other EU doctoral schools.

Abstract:

EU principles and values require all member countries to consider Environmental Protection and Policy as an ardent strategic priority, to be studied and discussed in specialized and public forums .

There is currently an unfilled need for events that provide a platform for interaction and development of research on Environmental Protection and Policy at the local and regional (Central and Eastern Europe) level.

The SCIENVIR series of conferences seeks to become a cradle for nurturing the growth of a trans-national, interdisciplinary community of academics, researchers and practitioners interested in EPP in an EU context.

The project aims to foster the burgeoning of innovative and interdisciplinary research and of dialogue in the field of EU Environmental Protection and Policy. SCIENVIR addresses the EU’s need for support and input from the academic community in finding viable solutions to the complex and universal issue of providing present and future citizens with a healthy and sustainable environment.

Abstract:

EU environmental policy is moving towards increasingly ambitious targets, while the EU consumer markets are becoming more green-oriented. These trends are expected to generate a demand for staff specialized in environmental policy and management on the job market.

There are currently few educational programs in Romania that provide specific courses addressing environmental protection and a set of tailor-made courses on European Integration (EI) and Environmental Policies (EP) would represent a first step in filling this academic and professional gap at a regional level.

The TAG-EU Jean Monnet Module seeks to meet the following objectives:

O1. Equip 90 academically diverse students, who do not normally come into contact with EU studies, with specialized knowledge, tools and techniques in the fields of EI and EP through a portfolio of both traditional and innovative teaching methods.

O2. Encourage the 90 students to use the acquired knowledge, tools and techniques in their career and to keep up to date with the field of EU environmental protection and policy.

O3. Create and instil interest in the EU and its core values regarding environmental protection within a wide group of academics and students as well as other interested parties of the general public.

The EU-iBUS project is a Jean Monnet Teaching Module built around the theme “European Integration and Banking Union Studies“.

Romania, as young country at the periphery of the EU, has a two-folded mission: firstly, it has the moral responsibility of catching-up the European BUS of Integration, and secondly, it has the immense responsibility of promoting outside the Community, the European values and principles as a world quality reference.

In this context, our project comes as the solution to the increasing need of knowledge of the European society regarding the European integration process. Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to identify and asses the effects that electoral cycles have on the environmental policy, in Romania, for the period 1990-2015. Regarding the research methodology that is best suited to such analysis, it can be a only mixed one (quantitative and qualitative) and the research strategy an inductive one, transversal and based on case studies. As a research method, we will apply the environmental agency model, but we we will not exclude other models, if the research results lead us in such a direction. The originality, complexity and scientific relevance of the research project derives not only from the innovation of the specific theme or topic, but also from its interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity, by making use of notions, concepts and specific instruments that lay at the border of disciplines such as: Environmental Science, Political Science, Economics, Management, Econometrics, Mathematics, Sociology, Psychology. We believe that this research topic comes to meet the need for knowledge on a yet unexplored enough research niche and hopefully such an approach will open new lines of research and debates.

EDEN (Erasmus Mundus Academic Network) is a project financed through the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 programme and was approved for a period of 4 years (15 July 2012 – 14 July 2016). The consortium consists of 6 Lot 3 higher education institutions and 9 EU universities, working together under a joint coordination: Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi – coordinator and IDC Herzliya – Co-Coordinator.

The Israeli partners are among the very prestigious HEIs in the world and make an excellent coverage both of the top-level academic institutions in Israel and of types of institutions, regions and needs in the country. The EU partners are themselves prestigious EU universities and give a very good geographical and academic coverage of European diversity. All in all, many academic fields are covered at the top level in the 15 partner universities – from science and engineering to humanities and economics. The EU and the Israeli partners have a very good record of cooperation in the frame of Erasmus Mundus.

This Erasmus Intensive Programme is built around the theme „Towards the European Banking Union. Historical, economic and legal perspectives on European Integration”. The aim of this event is to establish the opportunities and challenges of implementing the European Banking Union. In order for us to better understand the implications of this union, to establish the origins of this idea, we believe that a interdisciplinary approach (with economic, social, legal, historical and political reflections) on the European Banking System and European Union is a mandatory study. Therefore, the T-EBU team aims at bringing together teachers and students driven by the same scientific interests and passions related to banking into a common think-tank. The economic aspect will be thoroughly debated as it represents one of the key items of European Integration through its effect on trade and social welfare.

Proiectul îşi propune să încurajeze schimbul de experienţă şi consolidarea unor echipe de cercetare trans-naţionale, cu scopul de a identifica bune practici europene validate în materie de dezvoltare durabilă, sprijinind iniţiativele de atragere a fondurilor europene prin programe de cercetare-dezvoltare. Pe parcursul a doi ani, proiectul va facilita interacţiunea între două echipe de cercetare formate din specialişti ai Universităţii „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” din Iaşi şi ai Institutului Naţional de Cercetări Economice din Republica Moldova. Complementaritatea celor două grupuri (asigurată prin diversitatea largă a domeniilor de competenţă ştiinţifică şi prin integrarea unui grup de tineri cercetători cu rezultate academice excelente) va sprijini îndeplinirea cu succes a obiectivelor propuse.

Reuşitele academice ale echipei din România includ: 62 de proiecte de cercetare (director sau membru de echipă), 59 de articole ISI cu factor de impact, 221 de articole indexate internaţional, precum şi numeroase cărţi de specialitate şi participări la conferinţe în domeniul dezvoltării durabile.

Publicarea şi diseminarea rezultatelor se vor realiza prin efectuarea a 6 stagii de documentare şi 5 vizite de lucru în România; 2 workshop-uri, un seminar ştiinţific şi o masă rotundă în Republica Moldova, dar şi prin publicarea a 5 articole (colaborări între cele două echipe) şi editarea sau reeditarea de lucrări academice la edituri din Republica Moldova.
