Abstract:
The project intends to highlight the way in which the belief of the end of the world is articulated in Romanian iconography. The eschatological iconography becomes an extremely rewarding chapter in the research of the imaginary, as far as the topic of the end allows the expression of different shades, often fascinating, about the existing concepts of a community in a certain moment of evolution, about the end of days. These images have an axiological value: they speak about a certain way of approaching the existential values, as a complex expression of crystallization of the approaches to the world beyond, but also with the concepts about the world and life in general.
