Abstract:
The evaluation that is the subject of this contract is related to Lot 1: Evaluation of the contribution to economic, social and territorial cohesion - Theme A. Within Lot 1, the following evaluation sub-themes are provided:
• Subtheme A 1 - Evaluation of the contribution to smart, sustainable and inclusive growth;
• Subtheme A 2 - Evaluation of the contribution to territorial cohesion.
The objective of the evaluations was to analyze the relevance, effectiveness and impact of the use of the financial resources allocated by the Partnership Agreement from the perspective of economic, social and territorial cohesion, as well as highlighting the factors that contribute to the success or failure of the implementation, as well as to the sustainability of the financed actions.
The main expected result of the evaluation was that it contributes to the acquisition of new knowledge regarding the approach and implementation of the support provided and how it can be improved. In this sense, the evaluation process followed an analytical approach, which analyze d not only the extent to which the objectives were achieved, but also the reasons and determining factors that led to the observed success or failure (limited success). The results were formulated in the form of conclusions, lessons learned and recommendations that can be transferred in operational terms to the Ministry of Investments and European Projects to support the decision-making process regarding the management of the Partnership Agreement and the programming of funds for the upcoming financial year 2021-2027.

Abstract:
Digital transformation disrupts traditional value chains! This particularly concerns Danube region countries with their diversified
regional economies and strong position in typical production sectors, which are still focused on unidirectional client-supplier
relations. At the same time, there is an emerging need for experts in innovative fields as engineering, ICT, automation and
robotics, which need to be upskilled for the new value chains.
The MAIN OBJECTIVE of DanubePeerChains, therefore, is to empower Labour market Support Organizations (LSO) and Business
Support Organizations (BSO) together with their target groups and further local high-potentials (entrepreneurs, SME employees,
digitalisation specialists) in a joint capacity building and training approach to upskill to high-qualified jobs in the Danube region
and to gain sustainable recognition as PEER-level collaboration partners in innovative transnational value chains.
The partnership comprises 14 partners from 9 Danube countries (6 ERDF, 3 IPA) and 5 ASPs (+ENI) in a well-balanced mix of
business and labour support organizations, tech.transfer centers, vocational/educational institutions and policy actors.
Knowledge will be CAPITALIZED from DanuBioValNet, SmartFactoryHub, DigiTrans (all DTP), InnoPeer AVM (Interreg CE) and
S3-4AlpClusters (Alpine Space) and UPGRADED with VALUE CHAIN aspects 1) to identify high-potential cooperation fields in
digitalized value chains for project target sectors (metal industry, machine building, engineering, electro industry,
electronics/robotics, ICT), 2) to introduce this innovative approach in collaborative capacity building measures for LSOs/BSOs,
and 3) to upgrade existing technological and business model oriented trainings by integrating the value chain perspective and
adapting them for the qualification demand of Danube area target groups.Regional Action Plans and Strategic
Recommendations provide contributions to EUSDR PA8, PA9 and national S3 strategies.

Abstract:
Romania is the most unequal country in the EU since 2007, with a current Gini coefficient of 37.8. In 2013 the income quintile ratio (S80/S20) ranked Romania first in the EU. Such inequalities have fuelled concerns about further polarization of economic development. As such, there is a high demand for a more comprehensive understanding of uneven geographical development. Although the economic literature emphasizes the important role of personality traits like creativity, intelligence, and/or openness/flexibility in economic performance, the empirical research of the interconnectedness between personality traits and the economic performance of regions remained poorly researched. Against this background, the proposed project draws together social sciences (i.e., psychology, economics, sociology, human geography) research capacities on socio-economic inequalities and the modelling tradition (in physics). This includes research on psychological characteristics (e.g., personality traits), social and economic disparities, as well as the logics of modelling social and economic processes. With its interdisciplinary layout and the spatial focus, the project also contributes to the emerging supra-disciplinary field of econo-physics. Classical research in the field is interested in how psychological characteristics are related to various political, economical, social, and health (PESH) indicators. Our approach here is radically different. The core frontier idea of the project is that the aggregated psychological characteristics should not be only related to PESH indicators in various geographical regions, but (1) they should be expressed in psychological maps and then (2) they should be conceptualized as mechanisms behind individual-level behavior that in the end is expressed in terms of macro-level PESH indicators. Therefore, creating the first psychological-geographical profile of Romania help us to better understand and model the “causal nexus” of spatial inequalities.

Abstract:
The main activities carried out in this project were: (1) the development of a macroeconomic model for estimating the relationship between health and labour market indicators - a composite index has been developed to quantify the performance of health systems in the EU member states, the study focusing on outcomes and fiscal sustainability; (2) the development of a microeconomic model to evaluate the relationship between the perceived health, labour market participation and individual income - micro simulations were performed using EU-SILC database and a model with simultaneous equations was estimated. The main results of the project were: 2 ISI articles published in journals in yellow (AIS=0.335) and grey area (AIS=0.1); 2 participations in international conferences, 1 book.

Abstract:
The objective of the project was to design a methodology for determining the reservation wage, in order to stimulate the insertion of young people in the Romanian labour market. Within the project, a representative survey was conducted among the young people from Romania with the main purpose of collecting their reservation wage. Then, an econometric model was built for estimating the wage depending on numerous socio-demographic characteristics of young people. This estimated wage was compared with the reservation wage declared by the unemployed youth from the available sample. Thus, it has been observed that the youth reservation wage is too high, acting as a barrier in entering the labour market. The main results of the project were: 3 participations in international conferences (of which 2 ISI Proceeding publications), 1 article published in a journal indexed in international databases and 1 ISI article published in a journal in the grey area (AIS=0.19).

Abstract:
The research activities included in this project focused on the identification of the main factors influencing earnings inequalities, the elaboration of the methodology regarding the analysis of wage inequalities and on the statistical analysis of earnings inequalities and their evolution in Romania. The determinants of earnings inequalities were analysed by designing a Mincer model, estimated with an ordered-logit model. The model was constructed using micro-data from the household survey (AMIGO database), the considered explanatory variables for earnings inequality being: gender, age, area of residence, level of education and the main sectors of economic activity. The main results of the project were: 3 participations in international conferences (of which 1 ISI Proceeding publication) and 2 articles published in journals indexed in international databases.
