Researcher

Silvana Crivoi is a scientific researcher at the National Scientific Research Institute for Labour and Social Protection (INCSMPS), with a background in sociology and political sciences. She obtained her PhD in Sociology (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Bucharest (2024), with a thesis examining the working conditions in Romanian universities in the context of increased use of digital technologies. Elen-Silvana Crivoi studies how institutional arrangements and technological change shape working conditions, professional autonomy and well-being. Her doctoral work and 2025 monograph establish a sustained research programme on academic working life. Her recent articles demonstrate independent conceptual work, systematic evidence synthesis and successful interdisciplinary collaboration, while her studies on employment show quantitative literacy and policy relevance.

Abstract:

Social workers are generally among the most affected helping professionals by workr-related stress and burnout. Mindfulness is widely used as a self-care intervention, but mostly for clients and other professionals and in-person. Neurofeedback is a novel approach wich was not empirically tested at improving social workers mental welbeing, coping and resilience.

The aim is to test de effectiveness of mindfulness (online and in-person) and neurofeedback on the reduction of stress and burnout and improvement of mental wellbeing, coping and resilience among social workers through an experimental mixed-methods design.

Specific objectives: 1. To identify the effective interventions in reducing the negative consequences of work-related stress among social workers (i.e. stress, burnout) and in improving mental wellbeing, coping and resilience. 2. To develop and empirically test the effectiveness of various interventions (i.e. Mindfulness-based online intervention, Mindfulness-based in-person intervention and Neurofeedback) aimed at reducing the negative consequences of work-related stress among social workers (i.e. stress, burnout) and in improving mental wellbeing, coping and resilience. 3. To understand how the participation in stress-reduction interventions impacts social workers’ practice with clients. 4. To increase the visibility of social work research
