Abstract:
The project Higher Valorisation of Vegetal By-Products and Wastes to Support Sustainable Use of Natural Resources - HIVEGRES- proposes, in general terms, new technologies able to improve the natural resources use (wastes and by-products) and to increase the efficiency of bio-products formulation in terms of process control and formulation technology. The project frames in the general field of Industrial Green Technology aiming to acquire, by safe methods, an enhanced content of high quality natural nutraceutics to be used as supplements and additives in obtaining efficient functional phyto-products.
HIVEGRES project aims to provide industrial innovative solutions (sustained by a strong scientific basis) to cover the industrial activities which are supporting the base for launching new healthy products, conforming to EU regulations and claims, with lower processing and production costs while enhancing the natural resources sustainable use; the project is focusing mainly on the phyto-pharmaceutical products sector.
In the frame of present project the practical addressed issues are:
1) Improved, sustainable use of natural resources by recycling vegetal wastes and by-products, improving the production yields and, consequently saving material from disposal while improving the whole process
2) Introducing new tools to control and monitor the production process and to assess the products quality: nano-sized biosensors array and flow injection analysis (FIA) methods and device
3) To create new opportunities for functional phyto-products diversification and opening new prospects in the market segment for the involved Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
To achieve the main goals of the project within the proposed 24 months project, the following main active principles are envisaged: the most efficient xanthophylls (Lutein and Zeaxanthin), carotenoids and anthocyanins from vegetal by-products, respectively wastes. For each active principle a specific vegetal source will be addressed, accordingly to the existing by-products and wastes and to the expected content of compounds occurring in each source.
Targeted vegetal materials are: by-products resulted from Vaccinium vitis-idaea, (cowberry), Myrtilli fructus and leaves (bilberry), Cynosbati fructus and leaves (rosehip), Hippopheas fructus (sea-buckthorns) and leaves (wild and cultivated in Romania, mainly Northern part) and vegetables wastes resulted from cultivars (all over the country) of tomatoes, carrots and egg plants.
Two important innovative approaches are proposed by HIVEGRES: in the products quality control (raw material and final products) by introducing nano-sized sensors able to provide information which comply to EU claims, and in natural resources processing technology, by proposing an improved extraction technology able to lead to higher extraction yield of active principles.

Abstract:
Proiectul porneste din necesitatea sustinerii calitatii vietii prin aport suplimentar de nutrienti antioxidanti, benefici pentru organismului uman in contracararea efectelor nocive induse de factori intrinseci si extrinseci.
Obiectiv general: cresterea calitatii produselor de tip supliment alimentar inovativ, utilizarea unor metode avansate de elaborare si control prin valorificarea eficienta a cunostintelor partenerilor.
Obiective specifice: cresterea gradului de inovare in domeniul suplimentelor alimentare de tip integrator alimentar, pe baza studiului avansat asupra activitatii antioxidante a unor fitocomplecsi izolati din specii vegetale mai putin valorificate; imbunatatirea gamei de produse cu actiune antioxidanta cu integratori alimentari destinati imbunatatirii calitatii vietii; elaborarea de integratori alimentari destinati edificarii unei sanatati de durata.
Necesitatea proiectului deriva din cerinta actuala de largire a gamei de produse antioxidante cu adresabilitate asupra unui grup tinta (in special persoane de varsta a 3-a).
Serviciile furnizate constau in realizarea urmatoarelor activitati: selectia de produse vegetale (PMA mai putin valorificate) cu actiune antioxidanta marcanta si investigarea potenatialului biosintetic pentru compusii antioxidanti (compusi polifenolici, terpenici, fitosterolici) prin CSS, spectroscopie, HPLC, GC-MS; evaluarea actiunii antioxidante prin metode moderne comparative si selectia fitocomplexului pentru introducerea in formule; determinarea potentialului antioxidant a fitocomplexului prin metode de tip DPPH, TROLOX, Vit. C; obtinerea unor tipuri de extracte vegetale prin modelarea parametrilor extractivi (solvent, timp, temperatura) si a tehnicilor de extractie; elaborarea si caracterizarea de formule prin asocierea fitocomplexului/principiului activ selectat din extractele vegetale elaborate;
Produsele includ forme noi pentru infuzie/decoct si extracte vegetale fluide, respectiv imbunatatirea unei formule preexistente.

Abstract:
Proiectul are ca obiectiv general infiintarea unei pepiniere pentru specii de plante medicinale si aromatice (Lavandula angustifolia si Lavandula hybrida), prin tehnologia de multiplicare in vitro, pentru propagarea unor bioforme cu bioproductivitate ridicata (biomasa si principii active), adaptate conditiilor pedo-climatice din Romania.
Obiective specifice:
- selectia bioformelor, caracterizarea fitochimica a acestora
- transferul tehnologiei de micropropagare
- infiintarea unui laborator de culturi de tesuturi
- instruirea personalului
- realizarea lotului initial
Serviciul consta in transferul tehnologiei de multiplicare prin culturi de tesuturi si furnizarea unui numar de plante (100-150 indivizi) pentru infiintarea lotului initial. Totodata, se parcurg etapele infiintarii laboratorului propriu pentru preluarea tehnologiei de multiplicare la beneficiar, precum si instruirea personalului in vederea insusirii tehnicilor de lucru.
Plantele-donor vor fi caracterizate din punct de vedere fitochimic, pentru evidentierea continutului de ulei volatil – analiza prin gaz-cromatografie cuplata cu spectroscopie de masa (GC-MS) si a continutului in polifenoli – cromatografie de lichide de inalta performanta (HPLC).
Evaluarea fitochimica vizeaza caracterizarea materialului vegetal (bioforme) care va fi multiplicat in vitro, pentru realizarea unor colectii cu insusiri morfo-fitochimice bine definite.
Oportunitatea proiectului rezulta din cerintele pietii pentru materia prima vegetala de Lavandula ssp., care implica dezvoltarea de culturi standardizate, pentru care cererea de material saditor este semnificativa. Importanta sa economica rezida din continutul in principii active de tip antioxidant (polifenoli) si in mod special al uleiului volatil, cu aplicabilitate in scop alimentar, cosmetic si fitoterapeutic.
