Abstract:
The project proposal has as starting point our demonstration model (TRL3), respectively the zinc fructoborate product, conceived and developed within a previous experimental demonstration project (PED) (2017-2018) carried out by our research team. Zinc fructoborate formulations coated with poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) copolymer ensure the release of the active substance in the colon. The project aims to develop a laboratory-validated technology (TRL4) for the synthesis and stabilization of the zinc fructoborate-PLGA biocomposit, an identical natural, non-toxic, innovative food supplement that ensures efficient nutrition of the colon and induces a long-term increase in the serum amount of A2M (alpha2-macroglobulin) protein, for a long and healthy life.

Abstract:
The complex project Increasing the institutional bioeconomic research capacity for innovative exploitation of local plant resources to obtain horticultural products with high added value comprises the following four projects:
Project 1."Complex electronic system with intelligent algorithms for data processing used for monitoring the developing conditions of water and biocenotic stresses, for warning about their presence and preventing them in horticulture"
Project 2."Multisensory quantification of water and biocenotic stress in horticulture through phytomonitoring and early warning in climate change conditions"
Project 3."Development of plant extracts and innovative phytosynthesized nanostructured mixtures with phytotherapeutical applications aimed at eliminating the biocenotic stress in horticultural crops"
Project 4."Innovative technologies for advanced processing of plant resources from pomiculture and viticulture"
The objectives of the project aim to develop the research capacity of the public organizations involved. Thus, upon the completion of the projects these organizations should meet the following outcome indicators: 1) employing new staff in research positions; 2)training the new and old employees through initial research training courses and specialist courses offered by each of the partners in their own field of competence (using the logistics of the learning resource centers); 3)obtaining new or significantly improved products/technologies/services; 4)structuring the offer for research and technological services and presenting it on the platform www.erris.gov.ro; 5)strengthening the capacity of the partner institutions through recovery strategies such as training programmes (research)/specialization programmes and visits (short-term); 6)offering and performing research services using the available research infrastructure; 7)creating a common programme for the learning resource centers, correlated with the institutional development plan of each partner

Abstract:
The project "Bioactive nanostructures for innovating therapeutical strategies" is a complex project that will be performed by the consortium: University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova (UMF-CV), Politehnica University of Bucharest (UPB), University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Bucharest (UMF-B) and the Institute of Cellular Biology and Pathology - Bucharest (IBPC).
The project is included in the National Research, Development and Innovation Strategy 2014-2020, approaching an area of great scientific interest at worldwide level, ”advanced eco-nanotechnologies and materials”, with major implications in medicine.
The project proposes to synthesize, test (on microbial cultures with reference germs, on human cells and on laboratory animals), the metallic non-particle (Ag) and metal-oxydic (ZnO, CuO, Fe3O4) effects, non/functionalized with biologically synthesis active molecules and isolated from natural sources, in order to obtain bioactive nanostructured materials.
The research institutions will play complementary parts:
-UPB will perform a physical-chemical synthesis and characterization of the nanoparticle types;
-UMF-CV will evaluate the anti-microbial effects on culture environments with reference germs; it will evaluate the potential toxic effects of the nanoparticles; it will identify the metabolic changes induced by nanoparticles, the distribution, release and permanence of the nanoparticles in cells and organs;
-UMF-B will test the efficiency of nanoparticles and nanostructured bandages on skin burns in animals;
-IBPC will evaluate the (non)functionalized nanoparticle effects in cell cultures (human keratinocytes and fibroblasts).
The project is structured in a logical order of stages and activities, performed by all partners. The project implementation will lead to the complete performance of the ”result indicators”: 16 new work places, request for 3 new scientific licences, publishing of 10 ISI papers; creating at least 3 types of nanostructured bandages.

Abstract:
The project is part of a highly topical worldwide research regarding the nutritional role of zinc and boron in the plant–animal–human food chain, offering scientific means of monitoring the impact of these microelements upon animal and human health. Our demonstration model (product) is represented by novel natural active zinc–boron complex-based dietary supplements, as stable non-toxic formulations, with high intestinal absorption rate, inducing alpha2-macroglobulin (A2M) expression in human and animal liver. Since we are the only research group capable to analyze the different forms of A2M in human blood, we can easily follow-up the biological effectiveness of our novel nutritional formulations in humans. For the first time, we explored a biological link between zinc–boron complex adjuvant therapy and a defined target at cellular and tissue level. This may open the door for testing our novel natural active zinc–boron complex-based dietary supplements in different diseases and in aged persons. The ultimate goal of our project is to demonstrate the utility of novel natural active zinc–boron complex-based nutritional formulations administered to humans for longevity and healthy life.
