Abstract:

The project objective is to develop an innovative method for improving the functional properties of polylactic acid (PLA) used in 3D printing by fused filament method, and so, because of the elimination of the specific weaknesses of this polymer related to the thermal stability and mechanical properties, to be possible to obtain a new material (PLA-GLASS), which keeps the PLA advantages, but shows new functional properties which allow advanced applications. The project will be valorified by implementation of the new procedure at SC CARDINAL SRL and by selling the new material, shaped as filaments, to the companies involved in 3D printing. The market potential is linked to the fact that 3D printing is in expansion technique, including in Romania. The technological and commercial risks will be controlled through a good relationship between the company's management team and the team of the research service provider. The main status and progress indicators at the project finalization are: widening of the products range manufactured by the company, the increasing of production by approximate 2 tons in the first year and by 50 tons / year in the following years, the increase of turnover with 2%, the increasing of the the jobs number with 3-4 jobs, etc. The research service provider has the necessary expertise to develop and to implement the project. Funding only for activities in accordance with the program Innovation Checks it is request and the budget is drawn up according to this program.
