Abstract:

The new IT technologies have had a major impact on the research-development-innovation ecosystem, giving it unprecedented dynamics during the last two decades. In this context of generalized digitalization, philological research has, in turn, entered into an extensive process of resizing its own heuristic strategies, towards the compatibilization of classic research methods and resources with the new IT technologies, a direction known today as “Digital Humanities”.

In Romania, this line of research responded promptly to this new challenge, taking over and adapting to its own specifics some methodological directions developed at the international level, but also successfully innovating in many fields. Lexicography and geolinguistics represent two such fields in which researchers from the Iași academic center have made important contributions towards the digitization of specific research tools, running since the beginning of the 2000s some pilot projects focused on the creation of dictionaries and linguistic atlases in digital format (CLRE, ALAB).

The purpose of this project is that, through exchanges of best practices and knowledge transfer, all this experience of over 20 years of the Iași researchers will be shared with colleagues from the Republic of Moldova, a feat which will ultimately contribute to the consolidated integration of research from the left and right sides of the Prut river in the European research ecosystem.
