Abstract:

The proposed project aims to develop an artificial intelligence–based system for analyzing the energy behavior of industrial equipment using Self-Organizing Maps (SOM). The main objective is to automatically identify operational regimes based on real energy consumption data, without requiring explicit physical models of the underlying processes.

The system will use data collected from existing sensors and monitoring devices (such as power, current, or energy meters). These data will be preprocessed through cleaning, normalization, and aggregation steps to extract meaningful features describing the operational behavior of the equipment.

Using unsupervised learning techniques, specifically Self-Organizing Maps, the proposed approach will group similar operational patterns and reveal distinct energy usage regimes.

Each identified regime will correspond to a characteristic operational state, such as stable operation, high-load conditions, or inefficient operating modes.

The results will support the identification of inefficiencies and the formulation of actionable recommendations for improving energy usage. The proposed solution focuses on data-driven analysis rather than physical modeling, making it adaptable to various industrial contexts.

The final outcome will be a validated analytical framework and prototype capable of supporting energy efficiency assessments and decision-making processes in industrial environments.
