Abstract:
The EMISAR Project aims to develop, create, launch, and operate a satellite to demonstrate and evaluate the performance of an asynchronous communication mission, specifically the transmission of data between two ground points through the space segment. A by-product of the project is creating a center of expertise and technical support for space projects, including experienced personnel and equipment relevant to the initiation, implementation, and further refinement of space technologies and exploitation projects. In addition, the project aims to define two additional missions: a low-Earth orbit Earth observation mission and a geostationary communications mission. Worldwide, the satellite communications industry is in the midst of a worldwide transition from large, technologically inert satellites, which are very expensive to operate and launch, to low-orbiting satellites that will replace large geostationary satellites. The advantages of the new generation are: low cost, use of newer technologies, shorter operating times (hence reduced environmental endurance requirements), short development times, redundancy, and reduced latency. In this project, we propose the use of an e-mail scenario where the data storage and transmission segment is an asynchronous EMISAR satellite EMISAR relay. This serves authorized users for secure point-to-point message distribution, minimizing the attack surface specific to Internet communication.

Abstract:
The proposed project, “SICDrone,” aims to investigate and develop a modern tool for detecting and mitigating threats posed by unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) in the current context of their explosion in diversity and accessibility. Drones not only serve beneficial purposes in society like large-area surveillance, medical support, and search and rescue missions, but they also play a role in illegal activities like drug trafficking, transporting hazardous substances, and espionage. Nowadays, detection technologies such as radar encounter difficulties in detecting drones due to their low flight altitude, small specific Radar Cross-Section values, and limitations when used in urban areas. Existing passive detection systems are mainly developed for the military domain and are not available for urban use at reduced prices. Moreover, these systems rely exclusively on electromagnetic detection, without other subsystems for collecting additional information. International solutions for drone detection are usually designed as part of complex systems for detection, localization, and neutralization, being reserved exclusively for the military domain. The SICDrone project aims to enhance research competencies and UAV detection solutions in the local market, meeting operational requirements related to the development of an integrated system for passive detection, classification, and neutralization of UAV threats. This multi-technology system will use information fusion from multiple sensors to achieve increased detection performance. The main goal of the project is to create an integrated solution based on the development and integration of emerging technologies in the field of drone detection, identification, and neutralization through GNSS jamming or GNSS signal spoofing.

Abstract:
The goal of the project is to improve the institutional performance of the partners, including those with the potential for relaunching, by developing space and security competencies and by encouraging the orientation of research activities in pragmatic directions. Space activity involves the development of technologies and technologies validated in extreme conditions, which have significant applicative potential in various priority economic and social domains.
The VESS project is based on the experience gained by the Coordinator through participation in ESA scientific missions, the development and validation of flight software and hardware components, the development of countermeasures in the context of human crew space missions. Partners contribute with their own skills in areas such as math physics, computer science, advanced technologies, astronomy. VESS will provide knowledge sharing and exploitation within and outside the consortium by creating technology transfer and knowledge transfer offers to other areas of activity. Furthermore, VESS will allow joint use of existing research infrastructures for partners. The four component projects are oriented, each by its specificity, both to the consolidation of the Romanian presence in the activities of ESA, as well as to the capitalization in the economic and social environment of the obtained results. Ensuring synergic interaction between component projects at the level of the complex project will maximize the chances of success and superior valorisation of the results. The joint RDI program to be developed will lay the foundations for a field of competence in space and derivative applications. The offer of services to the socio-economic environment will be achieved by organizing workshops that will be provided with adequate advertising. The patenting of the results will be done by the partners directly involved in the activities that produced these results.

Abstract:
The security problem of a country it was and still remains an important domain. In this way, the development of devices and systems, in inner production which ensure and improve the security level must be high priority. The research made in this way ensures not just an economical development, but also an access to the top of the technology.
In the last years, the development of the THz technology tends to become gauge devices in complex substances identification. From this, become almost clear the way to use such systems in the security domain, for identification of the dangerous substances, fake drugs, dangerous objects imagistic etc..
THz radiation covers a slightly investigated area until now from the electromagnetic spectrum, between microwaves and infrared. Because of those properties, the molecular structure of a substance could be determinate from the absorption or emission of THz radiation. Having such spectrum (absorption or emission) we can identify a complex substance. With a large data base of THz domain spectrums we can identify more substances.
In the same time, the THz radiation photons have a weak energy, so the radiation is not dangerous for human being (is not an ionizing radiation). THz radiation being a broadband, it is obey to the dispersion, diffraction and divergence phenomena, doing quite difficult the handling of such beam. However, it is possible the quasi optical coupling using the lenses, because some of the dielectrics are transparent at THz radiations. On the other hand, from the diffraction point of view, THz radiation has a behavior specific to microwaves, so we need some bigger optical systems to control the spatial propagation.
The consortium consisting of: Institute of Space Science, National Institute for Laser Plasma and Radiation Physics, Research Center of Optoelectronics, from University Politehnica of Bucharest and an industrial partner UTI Group – have propose to realize an active, portable device to identify dangerous substances in the THz domain for security. The product will be a novelty on the national and international plan, because of it compact structure, response and low cost.
In this project we take account of: design and accomplishment of a molecular spectroscopy setup in the THz domain and the validity of the spectroscopic setup in the national security domain.
